The Garden Shed is a group show. Join us for a unique exhibition where four like-minded yet distinct artists collaborate to explore themes of deconstruction and construction within Folkestone and beyond. This thought-provoking showcase gives a fresh perspective on our landscape, delves into the human desire to nest and reflects on interior and exterior spaces through various artistic expressions.

Begin your visit by entering through the side gate and walking from the shade into the light, following a path that leads you to The Garden Shed. As you journey through a large, lush garden, you will encounter a variety of captivating installations and sculptures, each contributing to the exhibition's overarching theme.

Inside The Garden Shed, you'll have the opportunity to meet the artists and immerse yourself in their diverse works, which include textiles, ceramics, paintings, drawings, and more. This exhibition promises a rich tapestry of styles and mediums, offering perhaps a fresh aesthetic perspective on both familiar and reimagined spaces. An event to be enjoyed!

Emma Coleman / Watercolours, paintings, oils, ceramics… reconciling the desire to nest with the want to make art, emma produces an assortment of images and objects... rough sketches, ceramics, pillows with a skin of oil painting, watery drawings, trifles in pencil, tiny paintings, a 9 foot long canvas... influenced by bodies and fashion and interiors.

Katrin Albrechtee / Honesty, wind in trees, bodies at ease, transformation, freedom, art, liberation, fabric… working mainly with fabric, creating flags, sculptures, wall hangings, or cut-paintings... some sculptures are props for performances, some are tools for shamanic work. Katrin finds textiles a relatable material as our human bodies are in touch with them constantly.

Lili Spain / Starting from a sculptural sensibility Lili uses found objects, detritus and text to develop imagined, mythical histories of these that are obsessively collected and reworked to form hybrid art pieces. Mythologies are developed, rituals are explored and processes psychoanalysed.

Nerys Marshall / Exploring deconstruction and darkness, breaking down and reassembling elements to reveal the raw essence of human existence. Her art, characterised by stark contrasts and shadowy depths, evokes mystery and introspection. She addresses themes of loss, decay and transformation, finding beauty in imperfection beyond the surface.
