Sue Bridge is a painter, using oils and gouache. She lives and works in Folkestone, on the South East coast of England. The seascape here symbolises the close connections she’s formed with fellow swimmers, inspiring much of her semi-abstract work. She paint figures with animated, gestural brush strokes, wet on wet, enjoying the experience of paint sliding and blending. In her geometric abstract pieces, she aims to capture the different sensations water evokes, from icy cold to steamy warmth. Her practice centres on women’s well-being, encompassing both real experiences and imagined scenarios. Exploring women's health and our primal bonds with the elements, which begin in the womb and continue throughout life, is at the core of her current work. Some of her pieces are imagined, yet deeply rooted in these primal connections.
