A dance and multidisciplinary art performance in Sunny Sands lasting 20 minutes. Erendira will move, dance and use improvised speech while wearing a costume made by Vanessa with repurposed materials inspired by mermaids. Flags painted by Vanessa with symbols will surround the space, giving a sense of being on a ship. People have been moving to Folkestone, as if called by a siren, finding strength and healing from the ocean. The performance will explore the emotions and the growth that such moves might cause in many of us who have moved here.

Artists involved: Erendira Canedo and Vanessa Clark. No need to book as it would be in an outdoor space. Though the performance has a beginning and end, it would be best for the public to arrive before starting time.

Erendira Canedo is an international dancer, dance performer and experimental theatre actress. She has created her own performance vocabulary, combining physical expression with improvised text, making a poetic, thought provoking and uplifting performance.

Vanessa Clark is a multi-talented creator with a passion for painting, ceramics, and mosaics. Sustainability and repurposing are at the heart of her work. Vanessa's art is all about texture, vibrant colours, and spontaneity. She loves turning everyday materials into masterpieces, like using tissue paper from packaging for her sculptures. Vanessa and Erendira were brought together through their love for dance. Admiring each other's work, their first joint project was to a crowded Brewery Tap gallery during Vanessa's Hot House Flowers art exhibition and Erendira's dance performance, inspired by the colours and paintings. The performance was so well received and inspired both artists, so they decided to continue developing their combined arts.
