For ‘Open Art Folke’, Ruby and Zuleika would like to plan a few workshops/lessons, ‘Display Design Basics’ or ‘Learning to SEE so you can Draw Anything’, ‘Drawing Letters & Fonts: Sign-writing Basics’ (tbc) and something specifically for children, such as ‘Conquering Perspective’. Parents will need to accompany/wait with their children (as their DBS has expired). The workshops will need booking at least a day in advance.

They would like to have a relaxed ‘Open House’ type Exhibition, where you can just pop in and have a look, without booking and in your own time. Or come and ‘have a go’ in a workshop and smooch about afterwards, if you want. They will be delighted to show you their work and/or discuss any ideas you may have for a new commission. You can also find out Tom Marsh’s paintings at Ruby and Zuleika’s exhibition.

Tom Marsh: I am an Associate Member with the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, exhibiting at the Mall Galleries in London every year. I am one of the original members of the selection committee for the Hampstead Art Society, and I am on its judging panel each year for its annual summer exhibition.

Spending my childhood growing up in New Zealand, I was introduced to oil painting at an early age by my father. At sixteen, I achieved membership to the Society of Architectural Illustrators and went on to complete my art training with a degree in Illustration at the University of Kent at Canterbury.

The beautiful sense of light and shadow that was so much part of my early life in New Zealand has informed my painting subjects ever since. I use this keen sense of light to render my local landscape, which includes the countryside, coast, marine subjects and London.

Ruby James is a photographer who likes to capture people going about their everyday lives. She loves finding the visual juxtapositions and similarities of people living in their environment. In her work, street scenes are slowed down, highlighting people’s stories. She also enjoys photographing the mundane in a way that viewers can appreciate it in a new context.

Zuleika Carter takes commissions, mainly for ‘Name paintings’, mostly for children - each one bespoke to the individual child/person. Each Letter of the name is illustrated with all manner of things interacting with each other that all start with that Letter. She also makes elaborate, large cards/paintings for special events, such as for a ’Retirement’, ‘New Baby’ or to ‘Get Well’, that need signing by a multitude. These are highly personalised and often include the person doing what they do best or love most, and can be 3D. Zuleika will also paint/draw your house or an aerial site map of your home, business or school campus. She has helped brides & grooms with dress designs and decor schemes, homeowners with their interior concepts and even twitchers with drawing and painting the birds they spot. In fact, she’ll paint, draw, design or assist with almost anything you want (although pets are not a favourite)!

However, Zuleika will be showing whatever she can dig out - and examples of her ‘own’ work. Zuleika would like to focus more on her ‘own’ work, which she hasn’t made enough time for. Her work includes life drawings and sketches, a few heads/portraits in oil, some landscapes, and some abstract and geometric works.
